Type the word, JAWS and the Search Charm opens with a list of items that match. Make sure focus is on the Start Screen where the tiles are displayed. Run HJPad is now at the top of the Start menu. If you're using Windows Vista or later, press the WINDOWS Key to open the Start menu. The default Dictionary manager dialog boxįor Windows XP users go to the JAWS program group from the start menu. Alternatively, you can bypass the list of managers and open the Dictionary manager immediately at any time by pressing INSERT+D. The Dictionary manager is one of the items in this list. Pressing INSERT+F2 opens the list of JAWS managers. There are two keystrokes you can use to open the Dictionary manager. It's most common use is for pronouncing names and places correctly. The JAWS Dictionary Manager is useful for pronouncing words or phrases that a speech synthesizer may not pronounce correctly. In this lesson we'll look at the JAWS Dictionary manager. It is identified by language, for example, English, and can be expanded into a tree view to show other restrictions that apply to the rule. Once the rule is created, it is added to the top of the Dictionary Entries list. Starting with JAWS 10, the Dictionary manager was expanded so that you can create rules applying to specific languages, synthesizers, or voices.
